GPGSL S10: Season over! Thank you and goodbye. See you in S11 ||v||

Posted by GPGSL
I have had no problems with overtaking in the races I have tried (on the new cc-line, which is one of the best I have seen for GP4) - but the gearing needs to be set up to allow drivers to move past on the straights without hitting the limiter.

I would suggest reducing the AI errors to 20 or lower though, as any errors cause an instant retirement at the top of the mountain.

Exactly. We've all been @#$%& at some point or other by GP4 and its mechanics. The original result should never have been changed.

John, for clarification, I wasn't having a pop at how quickly the official results went up at all. The exact opposite in fact, I'm chuffed they went up so soon after the race.

My point is that once the official results tables are up, then surely the result should stand as it is, as a matter of record.

As the current table maker I do not agree with this per se, this is an extraordinary situation which has been protested by members of the GPGSL to make an appeal. An appeal should be able to overturn any earlier made results.
Steps will be taken to make sure a situation like this will not result into a grey discussion into the future.

And the reason the tables went up so quickly was simply I had the time directly after the race, and I would not have this time later in the week.

Out of interest, about how long does it take you to make them for a GP? Getting rid of the forms and adding the formulas was all to reduce workload, as the old ones could take 30-45min iirc.

It takes me pretty long I must say, at least an hour for all 10 tables together. Off course this latest run had 4 changes in test drivers etc. which made it just that little bit longer. But the formulas help a lot in the whole story!

huh, that's a lot tbh. Hope that's just the getting used to it part, I had cut it down to ~15 min depending on driver changes.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong then ;)

I first save the results pics from the topic, get the performance file to check with the one from previous race (driver changes etc.) and use this one to see who boosted.
Update the boost tables, update the referenzen, do the result ones according to saved pictures. (manually typing the gaps takes me already a few minutes per sheet)
Then I update the championship tables, often need to wait 2 seconds on every entry (program freezes on every entry) and finally update the GPGCL, for which I need to see manually how much points each team scored (or do you have a trick for this?)
Finally uploading the pics and getting the correct links from hosting sites is another 15 minutes.

Hm, let me try to remember how exactly I did it.

-browser window to one half of the screen, excel to the other
-click the GPGSL account, latest posts, perf file. Didn't really need the previous one, as Referenzen reflects that.
-compare with Referenzen, change if necessary. Then the boost sheets.
-again latest GPGSL posts for results, open the pics separately in multiple tabs.
-Go through the results. That was the quickest part imo, driver shortcut fills names, numbers, team, flags. Then the time/gaps. Only requires numbers thanks to the autoformat, also calculates the times for P2-P22 in FP&Q.
-championship tables still with the results in the browser, went quick as well but I didn't have the freezes. Only had those when I still had all sheets in one file rather than 5.
-Snipping tool for getting the pics, did each sheet immediately after it was finished so that I didn't have to leave the files open.
-GPGCL with the WCC standings pic rather than the browser window in the other half of the screen. Mental maths for calculating the team points (went quick after a few races when I had the points system in my head).
-Uploading and getting links took 2 mins max I'd say.

Wow! I saw the situation spun out of control a bit.

Well, I think we are using a good humor to describe the races, like I did, it is totally valid. But I disapprove (as I myself did in the race of Dubai, shame on my part) we get angry because a championship offline that won't leave anyone richer and even more powerful.

Kyalami track had problems? Yes. And how often (I include the GPGSL-3 tracks) tests one thing, and to put in the game, giving bug? It would be very easy for me to want to return to racing, as our drivers were victims of "oil", but this is just a game, a hobby, and that's how it should be seen.

If it is to give a solution to the two drivers who felt wronged, I suggest giving them some extra BHPs in Bathurst race. Or puts them both, with the highest BHP in the Australian race.

But I disagree back or cancel the race.

The league has existed for over 10 years and will not be why it will end!

Hi, Maikel. What program do you use to make championship tables???

No! No crying here. I appreciate the hard work it takes to do the tables but there was clearly an issue. An issue, which I might point out, there is precedent for. A precedent that was clearly set when it happened before and the results were changed.

I use Excel with files created by Tobi, he has done an amazing job on them :)

I don't have the new cc-line. Does anyone have a download link? Will this also eliminate cars running out of fuel on the last lap? :)

The link in the original thread is dead. Who is running the event and when will they need the track done? As already mentioned I have almost finished my update of the track but can send it to them earlier if required.

Yes the magic data allows for fuel (at least in my simulations using F1 cars - I don't know if the physics for GPGSL uses more fuel) and there is overtaking at Turn 2 and into The Chase. I have AI errors down to 16 at the moment.

I'll be running the next round. Preferably I would like to have the track around the time the Test Drivers mod is updated (or even earlier than that would be fine as well). I'm also thinking of running a feature race for the testers as it'll give a chance to see how the track goes. And if any issues arise there, then hopefully they can be fixed before the race drivers have qualifying.
