GP4 on Windows 10

I've searched the forums here and else where to find a solution to get GP4 working on Windows 10 Pro 64bit. I've seen several topics discussing different methods for getting it working on Windows 10, but I haven't been so fortunate. Here are the suggestions I've followed:

http://www.grandprixgames.org/read.php?4,983926,984163

http://www.grandprixgames.org/read.php?4,1080883,1080883#msg-1080883

http://www.grandprixgames.org/read.php?4,1081980,1082509

I've tried using all the comparability settings. Not sure what else to try. All drivers are up-to-date. Here is error I get:

removed log (too much scrolling)

I have GP4 in Windows XP SP3 compatibility for the above error. I see it says OS is Windows 8, is that refering to GPxPatch? I don't have compatibility tab at all for GPxPatch.

PS: It wouldn't let me post the full error (said message was too long).

I have no idea, but it would help someone to spot your issue if you posted the full log, in more than one post if needed.
When people post half logs, they can't usually be helped without the full log...

You can go to [pastebin.com] and paste it there. Then copy the link and show it here.

GPxPatch doesn't show any newer than Windows 8 because Microsoft has deprecated the API that I use to retrieve the Windows version. Unless GPxPatch explicitly says it supports Windows 10 it will show Windows 8...

Do not install Gp4 in Program files(x86) and dont install it in Program files.

Same thing as my Zaz Tools install tutorial on windows 10: [www.grandprixgames.org]

I would suggest to install in a folder in which it is the owner, with full control. so proceed this way for a long time and I am always successful (no errors). (Y)

In reply to phantaman: Just to see if I'm understanding what you mean. You're saying for me to install it like "C:\Grand Prix 4?"

I tried a reinstall, installing it at C:\Grand Prix 4. Now I don't even get an option to view log. It loads to a black screen for few seconds then closes. ;-(

Edit: Didn't have debug checked and I did get an error this time. Here is the pastebin: http://pastebin.com/RvkQT5X5

When you install it in C:\Grand Prix 4 dont put any compability to the Gp4.exe
And do not run it as administrator

Thats exactly how i have it.

I have windows 10 PRO 64 bit.

I tried and still nothing. Tried what you suggested and different settings with out running as admin/compatibility. I still get GP4 stopped working/just black screen and closes.

EDIT: DId you do anything else? Like changing setting in f1graphics, GPxPatch, etc?

Usually when I have a black screen it is related to firewall. Try to enter an exception for GP4 in your firewall settings.

I hope all of you do not care about the "mess". otherwise, the OS (windows) is in PT-BR, however you can deduce what I mean. (Y)

Ok, I found the problem. It has nothing to do with Windows 10. The problem is that you have too many printers (see this thread). Due to a bug in GP4 it crashes with too many printers (more than 8 or so). This bug will be patched by GPxPatch in the next version. As a workaround, remove some printers.

I've tried all suggestions, including removing printer devices (although I only have one), disabling and adding exception to windows firewall, and what phantaman's video was showing. Unfortunately no luck, I do appreciate the help and suggestions. (Y)

Here is a few pastebin links of error log I get now (maybe it's different):

two things ... in the main tab of GPxPatch tool, field "Debug", It is equal to this screen?

otherwise, the gp4.exe is not running on compatibility mode windows xp sp2 (and I doubt if as an administrator as well). do it

Mine wasn't exactly the same, I didn't have Extended pause mode and Use CPU was on 0. I tried your settings, but still no luck. This was log:

Also, I tried your settings with compatibility off, on WinXP SP2/SP3, etc.

I'll prepare a GPxPatch version for you with the fix in it, maybe it has more causes than too many printers.
All logs are the same.

Thank you for all your help. Look forward to the version and hopefully it solves it. :-)

I'm installing Windows 10 on another HDD and I'm going to try installing there see if that changes anything.

EDIT: After doing a fresh install of Windows 10 here is the error log I have now:
