Hi,

I know a lot has been said about running GP4 on Win 10 but i have not had any success with GP4. This is a new 64Bit Win 10 Pro installed on Asus Z97 motherboard. I have set Autorun and GP4.exe to XP SP2 and 'Run as Administrator' in properties but after running Autorun or GP4 nothing happens. Bullguard did capture the files to quarantine but they are now allowed. I did notice during install that Direct x 8.1 did not install, just clicked and said installed without any install activity. Any help would be appreciated. thanks, KH

I would say that Bullgard is the problem. Disable Bullgard temporary and try to run the game, this should work. Then enable Bullgard again and try to set it up so that it does not block the GP4 files anymore.

Hi,

Thanks so much guys.

After all the frustration with GP4 on Win 8.1 and 10 (GP1, GP2, GP3 and Vintage all ran well) the above suggestion for gpxpatch led to the solution.
I installed NOCD from this site.
I installed gpxpatch and ran it.
First try spat me out with a message 'look at the error log'.
I had a 1/3 black screen top LH side but Win 10 put up a message 'Install direct play' (I assume Direct x 8.1?) partly hidden behind the black patch on the screen, so I did.
Windows 10 then installed 'Direct Play'?
Restarted GP4 through gpxpatch and whalla!
There it was - GP4 running on my machine.
The problem with Bullguard seemed to have solved itself as gp4.exe (NOCD) and gpxpatch were not consigned to quarantine, I did report gp4.exe (NOCD) and gpxpatch as a false positive?
I will enjoy the setup as standard for a while before I make changes but thanks to those who helped.
Regards, KH

For interest - GPxPatch Error log:

Starting log
GPxPatch version: 3.91
GPx version detected: encrypted GP4 v1.02
Verbosity level is 0
OS version info: Windows NT 6.2 build 9200
Total physical memory: 2047 MB (free: 2047 MB)
Executing gp4.exe
*** error terminating process: (5) Access is denied.

After this error log I installed NOCD gp4.exe and ran gpxpatch again and error was the same. Windows then popped up the message 'Install Direct Play'.

(Y)

1. Right click Start
2. Click Programs and Features
3. Click Turn Windows features on or off
4. Make sure there is a check in Legacy Components
5. Click the + to expand
6. Check the box for DirectPlay

Yes,
I think this happened by default after gpxpatch ran.
I checked your suggestion and Legacy and Direct Play are installed.
GP4 runs fine now to get a basic steering wheel. They have increased in price since I last tried GP3. The Aussie dollar is low but GT wheel has gone from $90 to $150+.
Thanks for all the help from you guys.
It is appreciated.

hi phantman

I tried the above, & still no success!

I can still hear the GP4+CSM2016Mod Music running in the back ground, but STILL with a BLACK Screen!

Not only this, but when I try to 'end the process' through 'task menu', I am not able to end the process, so I gotta RESTART or SWITCH OFF my PC!

It's driving me crazy........hot

if you have done everything that could be done and still not succeeded. I can suggest is: reinstall from scratch (as instructions that you already have and, based on the video appearing on another topic.).

or leave everything the way this and forget this mod (2016).

Make sure you are using the latest GPxPatch (4.44). It contains fixes for GP4 to run under Windows 10.
