[Question] Performance

I know I ask alot of questions but its always nice to get some sage wisdom about my fave f1 game.

I have been beta testing my latest WIP standalone which is nearly complete. I play on rookie skill until I am ready to progress to higher difficulty levels and I seem to find myself on most tracks if not all to be at least 2 seconds behind pole in practice and qualifying and when it comes to the race when "HAMMER TIME" is needed to keep position when it comes to pit stops I can't seem to get a big enough gap. It normally fluctuates between half a second to a second.

It doesn't even matter what team I am using or what driver I always seem to have this issue. Could it be something to do with the performance file? Or all joking aside am I just a bit crap LOL

Well, if that 'WIP standalone' covers a custom performance file then you might have set it too high, yes. Otherwise... you are a bit crap. :) (I strongly suspect the former though, because being 2s behind on rookie seems quite impossible to me using the vanilla performances.)

It looks rather innocuous to me - nobody seems to be overpowered judging by this sheet... Have you changed the physics file parameters as well?

I'm not sure. I don't think so. Will have to look into it after work tonight and post it here

GP4 gets much more interesting and exciting when you use car power performances over 1000 (up to 1200). Driving gets more difficult as well, but you are much faster too. :)(Y)

I can't remember what pysics file I am using, Maybe that might also be a problem, Should I use the original or a custom one that the guys have made on here?

Depends on what you want. There are a lot of custom ones (look for phantaman's files, he's the expert on the topic around here), but it really depends on what you want.

Look, if you use the above perf file, didn't touch the physics file (if you don't know, chances are you didn't) then it's entirely possible you are actually a bit slow. It's not the end of the world, if you're not comfortable with it, just practice a lot, because there's no substitute for it really. Practice makes perfect - banal, but true.

Thanks Atticus as usual, Just been trying your Brands Hatch beta and to be honest I'm loving it!!!! I'm even faster than the AI lol... But yeah I'll have a thorough look into it and see what I can do to make it at least competitive but not alot slower than the AI....

Thank you, yes, Brands Hatch is a tricky little track.
