Slip Stream effect, Toms 2014 Mod

Hi all,

I am using Tom's 2014 mod, and noticed several AI battles ending in a crash in the heavy braking zones. It was causing a lot of the front runners to retire or fall way back in the field.
I watched a few laps and it appears the AI were locking up quite badly and loosing control.

After disabling the slipstream effect the issue was corrected and the passes into the braking zones were much more controlled. So I thought, I'll disable for the AI and just leave on for the player. However in the CSM menu I change to 'player only' and it automatically switches back to 'all cars'. It only allows disabled or all cars to be selected.

Can anyone offer any help on selecting for the player only?

In CSM the slipstream effect really works for cc-cars as well?

I made a lot of test with the slipstream effect outside CSM and can tell you surely, that it affects player's car only - equal to what the settings are.

Yes, slip stream is the only thing I never liked about GP4, in fact, ther is imposible to drive behind another car, and yes it's only for player's car, not AI cars

Well it seems odd that there would be three options in the csm menu

Disabled
Player only
All cars

I'm having an issue with the ai going for some moves up the inside which are a bit mis calculated and taking both cars out. How do I adjust the mistake rate or is this a track issue?

Which track, and what race length % are you doing?

I'm doing Melbourne 50% race distance

I did notice some similar errors at the final chicane at Nurburgring also.

I'm not sure if this is a track problem, mistake rate problem or what? I would really appreciate your help on this one Tom....I'm so close to being able to enjoy your mod, but there seems like too many ai incidents for it to be normal.

For your information, turn 1 at Melbourne and the 90 right hander following the fast left right chicane in sector 2 are the problems.

How do I edit the magic data error value to check if it's this? It seems like the ai are just careless into those corners

I checked and if you do a 50% race at Melbourne using an unmodded version of the original GP4, the AI are quite clumsy at those corners anyway. I'll see if there's anything I can do to fix it in the mods.

I think so too. Races at Melbourne are always a kind of lottery, due to turn 13 (Ascari).

I've had some limited success by messing around with the magic data, physics and the .dat here. The AI still make mistakes but not all the time.

Try this physics and .dat file and see if you have an improvement?

Thanks Tom, will give it a go and report back

Does anyone know why the slipstream affect does affect the AI when using CSM, but not when using GP4 Tweaker? What are the slipstream values in that 2014 carset?

is it true?

At least I can confirm that without CSM the AI-cars are NOT affected by the slipstream effect ('Dirty Air';) ;-).
