How make a GP4 Track with GP3 Track data

Belini used to make a lot of tracks for GP3. I don't know about their quality though.

@Lo2k: Unfortunately I have to tell you that GP4 Builder 1.912 XE is also crashing when opening a .dat-file for GP3. Only the very first time it worked, but since the second time I get that error message: "Exception EAccessViolation dans le module GP4 Builder 1.912 XE.exe a 001F8925. Violation d'access a l'adresse 005F8925 dans le module 'GP4 Builder 1.912 XE.exe'. Lecture de l'adresse 083BAEB8." Where is my mistake?

Hence I never put this feature in foreground and it's written WIP in the gp4form...
Anyway could you share your .dat with me and I will see what's wrong with it.

That's really weird. Some dats work and others don't. I tested a lot of them. However, there is a strange view with GP3-dats. I will use GP3Track Editor, if that doesn't work as well I will come back to GP4Builder.

I just re-checked all the original GP3 tracks and a few custom ones from Belini and they all open properly here in GP4Builder 1.912XE.
Just a thought : don't try to open the same .dat in two instances of GP4Builder because in that case, yep, second opening could fail as track is already opened in first instance of the program.
PS : Nope, it works too even if you open a track in 2 different GP4Builder instances

Mainly elevation changes and sceneries at the moment. I struggle a lot with that.

Hope you get some help/tips/tricks from the forum

@Eric :
- For elevation, I created a function called Profile Editor where you can edit the elevation of any part of the track, adding bulges, flattening it, adding randomized noise... It's rather for a raw editing. After you have to finely tune each sector if you want anything millimeter perfect... or you can import a database with the altitude value for each sector and here you are.
- For sceneries, GP4 now uses full 3d meshes, so I assume it's easier, but you have to have 3d skills for mesh and texturing now

... as long as the database is correct. That's the problem I have in GP3 with Google Earth database being "n'importe nawak" ...hem, I mean full nonsense. So still using the old Try & Errors method which takes a lot of time. Very boring.

nope, you can read original GP3 .dat tracks in GP4Builder but that's pretty all.
My goal was to ease conversion of GP3 tracks to GP4 but there was never a strong community call about this particular feature and by the way, the whole .gp4 had to be done nevertheless, and the .dat is not the longest part to do.

Tojepo, I try it and it works nice. Only at the end, like you said, to join the last and first its tweaking.
Do you have the missing pics of post #1?

Is it possible to make the dat for GP4 exactly like the dat for GP3 is or not?

I plan to make Charade 1972 (again, because I lost it somehow) and Bremgarten 1954 dats for GP4 somewhere at the end of this year if I have time. I hope that until than I will find two or three people who are willing to make a beta wad for these two tracks so that it will be possible to drive on them in 2022.

But now I have to focus on getting back my textures from the broken hard drive first.

i would rather have the track eagles nest.... ...one of my favourite gp3 tracks...
