@Benson_Jutton: So, if I understand, you are using Hega's 2012 tyre shape and old textures, right? Not 2014 tyre shape and 2014 textures.

Edit: Anyway, is your problem fixed?

No the problem is not fixed. I am using the new 2014 shapes and textures. I replaced them over the orginal tyre files that came with the game.
Thanks for your help it is much appreciated.

All right. Did you use the textures from the 2014 tyres folder or from the the GpxPatch 4.25 beta folder?
And can you describe me what is your problem, please?

Hi guys,

I am going to try using these tyres because they look amazing, but I might need some help :(

First things first, I have download and found the cars wad etc. But where is the performance file located?

@Richie: First of all, welcome back to GP4 (I remember your name from the GP4 thread on RaceDepartment).

First of all, make sure you have correctly installed GP4 , patches and necessecary tools to update your game:
1- Install the game
2- Install the official patch 9.6
3- Install the GP4noCD (replace the original GP4.exe from your main Grand Prix 4 folder by the new one inside the archive). At this stage, very important, run the game once (no need to start a race) and quit the game.
4- Install GpxPatch: Last version here: [www.grandprixgames.org]

Once done, you are ready to start updating your game.

The performance file is located into your main Grand Prix4 folder.

If you haven't got it yet, you can create one with TeamEditor Tool, for example: [www.realgpx.com]

There is a user guide which comes with the tool and which explains what is Team Editor and how it works.

More infos about the team datas, here: [www.grandprixgames.org]

I am using the textures from the 2014 tyres folder, well really the tyres folder in gp4. The problem is the textures on the tires are all garbled and mismatched. The Pirelli part can be seen on the tread. Thanks for the help.

I have that problem with original tyres too. When intermediate or wet tyres,...all cars mix the brands..michelin and bridgestone, etc. I had to come back to gpxpatch 4.24a :(

I have a similar problem with using the 2014 tyres (not the GPxpatch version) where I've replaced all the tyre files I was using and now the textures are all mixed up on the tyres. When I open the lod files in gp4builder the textures seem fine but not in-game. When I revert back to the tyres I was using, everything is fine - not sure what the problem is.

Also just noticed in both 2014 stand alone & CSM there is the rimcolors.ini from GP Tweak
Not sure if it would need to also be dealt with

3d, based on same tyreshapes made by Hega, that have been out for couple of years now.

@TomMk: Yes, as Vesa said... Just that the side of the rim is map differently.

The treads textures have just been updated with new tread texture and new sidewalls logos.

So, this shape is necessary in order to use the 2014 tyres textures.

Thanks mate.

I'm going to follow your instructions and try getting these tyres working.

I looked in the GP4 folder (fresh install from the CD) and I just don't see a file called performance? I'm yet to install any patches or anything, literally just the game.

Ok, forget about the performance file, for the moment. Follow the instructions until GPxPatch is installed, first. These steps are necessary.

Then, we will see how to open the .wad (folders and files containing the cars, textures, tyres etc..) and how to update your game and the tools needed for this.

PS: Better for you is to open a new thread "How to update my game", for example so that a lot of users can help you.

Hi Arnaud,

Continuing from the brake glow thread I had said I now have the wheels & tires working in
the 2014 CSM Mod from Tom

But the 1 thing I cannot fix is the fact I need to run the whole field on the same tires which ever
I choose. meaning all tires work.... but only one at a time may be used.

You had asked if my Performance file was setup & yes as per your instructions in your pdf & also what others
have shown here mine is correct it seems.

Also wheels/rims no problems at all & I may put and mix any with any car team etc...no limits there

But on the treads it seems to be tied to the CSM GlobalVars.ini
in the original 2014 Tom has this
[compound]
AllowChange =0
Name =Tyre Compounds
VarCount =17
Var1 =SoftMedium
Var2 =MediumHard
Var3 =SoftMedium
Var4 =SoftMedium
Var5 =MediumHard
Var6 =SupersoftSoft
Var7 =SupersoftSoft
Var8 =MediumHard
Var9 =SupersoftSoft
Var10 =SoftMedium
Var11 =SupersoftSoft
Var12 =SupersoftSoft
Var13 =SoftMedium
Var14 =SoftMedium
Var15 =MediumHard
Var16 =MediumHard
Var17 =MediumHard

I have changed it to this as a test

[compounds]
AllowChange =0
Name =Tyre Compounds
VarCount =17
Var1 =hard
Var2 =soft
Var3 =medium
Var4 =hard
Var5 =supersoft
Var6 =soft
Var7 =medium
Var8 =hard
Var9 =supersoft
Var10 =soft
Var11 =medium
Var12 =soft
Var13 =hard
Var14 =supersoft
Var15 =medium
Var16 =hard
Var17 =soft

In Toms original 2014 Mod no mention of tires/wheels/compounds in performance.txt but I have added as others have
something like this........

[TyreTextureNames]
Name #00=supersoft
Name #01=soft
Name #02=medium
Name #03=hard
Name #04=mclaren
Name #05=bridgestone
Name #06=michelin

[TreadTextures]
Team #00=3
Team #01=1
Team #02=3
Team #03=2
Team #04=3
Team #05=1
Team #06=3
Team #07=3
Team #08=2
Team #09=3
Team #10=0

[WheelTextures]
Team #00=5
Team #01=4
Team #02=6
Team #03=5
Team #04=4
Team #05=5
Team #06=5
Team #07=6
Team #08=6
Team #09=6
Team #10=6

If your still with me ;-)

This part I highlight in red in the GlobalVar.ini seems to be the problem as far as I can tell
; Graphics Settings
lod0 =1
hires =1
mirrors =1
;speedo =kph
compound =soft
resolution =f1graphics.cfg
hres =
vres =
pitboard =pitboard
defpanel =defpanel

If I try to run that with a 0 ( as Tom has it ) instead of soft,supersoft,medium or hard
I get all white tires ( wheels/Rims still good though )

If I remove it again all white tires
So it seems to want a value & I have tried adding all 4 with a "," in between but no luck

Anyway...........If that makes any sense at all hahah
I will keep experimenting or perhaps Tom is also looking at adding these to his CSM 2014
In his original each race had two types of tires running & no choice in performance file etc as this is all new

Also a last note is I am using the GPx4.30a & had to set up the Tyre folder to mimic what Tom had
Meaning a Tyre folder with 3 sub-folders in it named "Rims,Sidewalls & Treads"
Inside of the Treads folder are 4 subfolders for "soft,supersoft,hard,medium" tread
It is the only structure I have gotten to work.
It did not like one large folder with everything inside

So sorry for long post & just thought I would let you know what I found.
I will keep tinkering with it all.
Thanks

@flying

I don't have Tom's 2014 mod installed, so paths & folder structure in the following might be slightly wrong.

The [compounds] section in the globalvars.ini is most likely used for swapping the respective tyre folders. I guess originally it was similar to this: Tyres folder with 2 subfolders Treads and Sidewalls, Treads folder with subfolders SoftMedium, MediumHard and SupersoftSoft. If you open the 2014.csm with Notepad, you should find a line Tyres=Tyres\Sidewalls,Tyres\Treads\%compounds%. The compounds variable depends on the selected track (you'll find the line Modify=compounds,... at the end of the [trackname] section in the globalvars.ini), so depending on what track you choose in the csm menu, a different Treads subfolder is swapped.

With gpxpatch v4.30a this is no longer necessary, as you can handle the tyre treads & sidewalls via perf file. What you have to do is to copy all the tex files that are in the gpxpatch 4.25 Beta folder of the 7z file to the Tyres folder of the mod. Delete (or make a backup of) the files/folders that have been in the Tyres folder. Then change the line mentioned above in the 2014.csm to Tyres= . This way it should work at least for the track you've selected in the csm menu. Whether it also works when you change the track in the ingame menu depends on how the perf files are swapped.

Tobi !!!! Your a CSM guru (Y)

Hahah I have all 4 tires running in any race now depending on how I set my performance file

Thanks so much!
You know I knew there had to be a file somewhere as Toms original CSM always had 2 tire compounds in a race
But I just could not find it
Also I never knew the csm file could be opened with notepad

Thank You so much I have spent hours on this & tried so many different ways with only partial success in each
Your way has it all working + nice to just have the tyres folder as one big folder.
So easy (Y)

Thanks again for your help! Excellent! Much Appreciated (Y)(B)(Y)

PS: works fine for all tracks so far...even if changing tracks in game menu

Yep I will definitely change my mods to use these new tyres soon.

Arnaud, if possible can you please make the 'old' hard tyre with the silver / dark grey sidewall, rather than orange, I think it was used in 2011/2012? Also a pink or some other colour for the monsoon compound? Sorry to ask for all these extras!! ;)
