GPG Nations Cup S4 R17 - European GP [RACE ONLINE! | S5 carshape & tyre suppliers announced]

Exactly as expected, Team NZ will need a whole lot of luck to stay in the hunt for the championship
That was annoying, we should have been able to do better.
We were lucky last time, and managed to drive brilliantly to stay among the top. This is the cruel reminder that we're still new here.

Challenge accepted.

Stats: 139 Starts / 7 Wins / 9 Poles / 5 Fastest laps
Race has been run, and we have a winner. I'll get to work on putting the coverage together, and hopefully part 1 will be up by later tonight.

13th. Normality resumed I guess... but who knows what the race will hold

Full boost and only 10Th? WTf????

Whoops! Forgetting the boost was a bit of mistake on my part :(

Curious - is anyone bidding for Team Scotland? I was born in Scotland! :)
*helps if I spell "Scotland" correctly ;)

Part 1

Hello once again. It’s now time for the race to get underway. Girard took pole position in yesterday’s qualifying, but will he be able to convert it into a win in front of his home crowd? If he is to win, he’ll need to beat Tafuro, Viljoen and Grimaldi through the first corners. So then, time now to head trackside as the cars are now returning from their warmup lap, which means we are set to go racing.

Weather Report

Here we go. The cars are all lined up, and we are set for a start. Girard is on pole, alongside him is Tafuro. And Viljoen and Grimaldi are right behind them on the second row. Who will take the lead into the first corners? We’ll find soon enough.

They’re off!

Girard has converted his pole into an early race lead.

Tafuro wants his chance to get by Girard.

He has a look up the inside down the straight.

But is unable to make it by.

De Boer is closing in on Domenech. Also, the first drops of rain can be seen on the track surface.

Briere is currently the highest placed championship contender in 8th.

Girard sets the first fastest lap of the race.

De Boer tries for a pass on Domenech, but is unable to get by.

Rodriguez and Tung have made contact with each other.

Both drivers are able to continue on.

Not much separates Tafuro and Viljoen in the battle for 2nd. Meanwhile, the timing shows that McGregor has managed to get by Aspenstrom.

With the race now 3 laps in, let’s check out the current standings.

The timing shows the movers and shakers inside the top 10.

According to the timing, it seems Dixon has managed to get by Kuei.

De Boer decides to try again in his attempt to get by Domenech.

Once again, he isn’t able to get by.

Current championship leader Dixon will not be enjoying being stuck behind Frutiger-Fussli.

As the camera focuses in on Keranen, we can clearly see how wet the track has gotten. Meanwhile, in the distance it seems Cremasco has run off the track.

The Brazilian makes it back ontrack, but has lost a few positions.

Now there is a train right on his tail by the time he gets to the final corners.

McGregor is trying for a passing move on Kuei.

But is unable to get by.

Aspenstrom looks to be in a bit of trouble.

He managed to keep it ontrack, but now has to defend from Rodriguez.

Girard still leads.

Viljoen is off the track.

The replay shows that he went in all on his own.

He manages to get going again. Meanwhile, there is another yellow out.

Here’s the reason why. Kuei has spun off the track.

As the replay shows, she was defending her position from McGregor, but ended up losing the rear of the car into the corner, resulting in the South Korea car spinning out.

Now Keranen has run wide.

As the replay shows, Keranen had the inside line into the corner.

But he ends up running wide, allowing both Hatfield and Ihara to go on through.

Both drivers have managed to make it back ontrack, but now sit in the last two positions.

With the race now 6 laps in, let’s check out the current standings once again.

Time now for our first break. We hope to be back again soon.

Nope. I'm sticking with Team China. But if the decision is made to split Great Britain into seperate countries, then maybe you can go ahead and go with Team Scotland for Season 5. Would probably make for a great looking livery as well depending on the design choice.

As a Scot myself, I thought about it. But I will stay with Team Japan, & allow you to pursue them. Probably more successful in your hands :P
Two places gain. Let's go....

Might be in for points with a bit of luck.

Part 2

Hello and welcome back.

Briere currently sits in 7th, but does have a few cars behind him.

As we go back onboard with McGregor, we can see that he is in a battle with Frutiger-Fussli.

Frutiger-Fussli looks to be in a bit of trouble as he has run wide, allowing both McGregor and Tung through.

He manages to keep the car ontrack, but now has to defend from Viljoen who managed to gain ground on him.

As we focus on their battle, the timing shows that Domenech has lost a few positions.

Frutiger-Fussli looks to be a bit too wide into the corner, and ends up running off the track and into the sand.

He makes it back ontrack, but now sits in last position.

Girard still leads, with a lead of 3.18s over Tafuro.

De Boer must surely be happy being inside the top 5 currently.

Still a tight bunch for the final positions inside the top 10.

As we view the action from the rear camera on the Canada car, let’s check out the current standings.

Silva has a decent gap between himself and Briere, so he doesn’t have to worry about what’s behind him for the time being.

But no, he has run wide slightly.

He manages to keep it ontrack, but it has allowed Briere to close in on him.

The split shows how much time was lost when Silva ran wide, and the Portuguese driver will not be happy with that.

From Nikolov’s view, all he can see of the UAE car is the spray coming up from the wet track.

Dixon currently sits in 13th ahead of McGregor.

Kederer has the best view of their battle.

McGregor goes up the inside of Dixon.

But he isn’t able to get ahead, so Dixon holds onto his position.

He isn’t giving up just yet, as he is still within striking distance.

However, the battle will have to wait as McGregor enters the pitlane to get the first round of stops underway.

Aspenstrom is in for his stop.

Now we know the reason why Frutiger-Fussli was running wide before. Seems he had some problems with his brakes, which have finally failed on him.

He attempts to enter the pits, but goes on a bit of a cross country route to make it in.

Girard and Tafuro are in for their stops.

We have another yellow out as we see Domenech enter the pits for his stop.

And this seems to be the reason for it. Grimaldi has spun at the entry to pitlane, and that’s surely going to cause problems for those who are coming in for their stop.

The replay shows what happened.

Silva and Hatfield were lucky to avoid hitting the stranded Monaco car on the way to entering the pits.

Kederer has managed to get closer to the back of the New Zealand car.

Tung comes in for his stop.

Grimaldi has managed to get himself going again, and comes in for his stop.

Girard now finds himself in 3rd, but does have to be careful of the cars behind.

Not much in it between the three cars.

Ihara is in for her stop, and yet another yellow flag is out.

Kederer is in as well.

Rodriguez is coming in for his stop as well.

And here is why we had the yellow out. Viljoen is recovering from having gone off the track yet again.

According to the replay, he was behind Tafuro, but ends up losing the rear over the kerb, causing him to spin out.

He manages to recover, but ends up spinning out again before he could drive off.

He tries again to get going, but ends up off the track.

He finally gets the car going again, and goes cross country to get into the pitlane.

De Boer is in for his stop.

Briere, Nikolov and Cremasco are all in for their stops.

De Boer rejoins in 3rd.

Hatfield has gotten by the lapped Switzerland car.

So too has Silva.

Girard’s lead is out to almost 5s over Silvestre. Meanwhile, the timing shows that Keranen has taken to the pits for his stop.

Dixon has run off the track.

He rejoins with at least 4 positions lost.

With all drivers having now made their first stop, let’s check out the current standings.

Time for us to take another break. We hope to be back soon.

So much perf bonus and still no result. There must be something wrong in the car...
Stupid brakes :(

Yet another waste of boost I'm afraid.

Conditions are treacherous. Red flag the race, awarding race results as currently showing......;) Keep up the great drive Mr Girard!
