GPG Nations Cup S4 R17 - European GP [RACE ONLINE! | S5 carshape & tyre suppliers announced]

Race is going ok for Cheng so far. Our goal is to make it to the finish instead of finding ourselves out of the race. If we can manage that, and we get a handful of points on top of that, then we'll consider this weekend a decent one.

Hmm, not that bad race for Nikolov so far, but points seem not a realistic goal.

Part 2

Welcome back.

We return from the break to find Girard trying to make a pass on Briere.

Once again, Briere manages to hold onto his position.

Now Girard will have to keep an eye out for Viljoen.

Aspenstrom is simply in a class of his own right now.

With Aspenstrom way out in front, the battle for the remaining podium positions is between Kederer, Dixon and Paddock.

While the main battles in the race are near the pointy end of the field, we can’t forget the other battles further down the order. Here we find Tafuro chasing down Nikolov.

The race hasn’t been a good one so far for Domenech.

The first round of stops is now underway as Paddock comes in first for his stop.

De Boer and Viljoen are in as well.

Paddock comes out of the pits, and comes very close to hitting the rear of the San Marino car. He’ll not be happy about that.

Kuei was able to take her stop as well.

Both Kederer and Dixon are in for their stop.

Dixon wasn’t able to jump Kederer, so will have to try and make his move on the track. Meanwhile, McGregor is in for his stop.

The race leader is now in for his stop.

The pitlane is going to be quite busy now.

McGregor looks to be getting held up by Nikolov.

Aspenstrom has managed to retake the lead. That shows the extent of his current domination.

Briere is in for his stop.

Nikolov and Hatfield are in as well.

With all drivers now having taken their first stop, let’s check out the current standings.

Tung was one of the few drivers who managed to gain a position during the stops.

Ihara lost a few positions through the stops, but at least she is still within the points.

Girard now finds himself in 13th.

We saw Tafuro run off the track earlier, which dropped him down the order. Now we find him in 16th.

Kederer looks to have a safe buffer between himself and Dixon.

De Boer is currently in 9th.

Keranen is doing his best to keep up with Briere.

Hatfield won’t need to worry too much about what is behind him, as Domenech is too far behind to challenge him for 20th.

The pace Aspenstrom is showing here today is phenomenal.

We have a yellow flag out.

And this is the reason for it to be out. Keranen is off the track with what looks to be a puncture.

The timing confirms it, and that is the end of Keranen’s race.

The gap keeps getting bigger and bigger.

With Keranen now out of the race, it has allowed Girard to close in once again onto the back of Briere. At the same time, Briere is doing the best he can to try and get closer to Viljoen.

0.3s is the difference between Viljoen and Briere.

As it stands now provisionally, Kederer is looking most likely to take a chunk out of Briere’s lead in the championship.

As we ride onboard with Paddock, let’s take the chance to check out the current standings.

Kuei has run off the track.

As the replay shows, she locked up into the corner, and ended up running off the track.

She makes it back ontrack, right in front of Silvestre and Grimaldi.

There isn’t much in it between 10th and 11th, and 11th and 12th.

Silvestre has managed to get by Kuei, and now leaves the South Korea driver in the clutches of Grimaldi.

Time once again for another break. We hope to be back soon.

Girard needs to pull his finger out, and start nailing some of these overtaking moves!

Part 3

Welcome back once again.

Grimaldi has closed in on Kuei, and now tries for a passing move.

However, he is unable to make the move stick.

Dixon is now being put under pressure by Paddock.

Aspenstrom just keeps increasing his lead.

However, he locks up his brakes and runs off the road.

At least he made it back ontrack safely.

It’s still a close battle from 10th to 12th.

Grimaldi is once again close enough to Kuei to have a chance at a potential pass.

Girard is now in front of Viljoen. Whatever the reason for it has somehow been missed by the camera.

Grimaldi makes his move on Kuei, and it looks like he has managed to get by. Meanwhile, Kederer has started the final round of stops by coming in first.

Aspenstrom is in.

So too is Paddock and Cremasco.

We find Kederer mixed in with the battle between Girard and Briere. Also, Girard has managed to get by Briere.

Viljoen is in for his stop.

Briere and Girard are in as well.

Girard gets out ahead first.

Hatfield took the chance to make his stop as well.

Dixon is in.

De Boer comes in for his stop, just as McGregor stops in his pitbay for his stop.

Grimaldi and Nikolov are in for their stops.

Domenech makes his stop.

Kederer now finds himself in 5th.

Silvestre and Kuei are the last two drivers to have made their stops.

All drivers have now made both of their stops, so let’s check out the current standings again.

As Aspenstrom takes the fastest lap, Kuei runs wide and off the track.

At least she makes it back ontrack, but now faces a high risk of being overlapped.

My word, Kederer’s car has exploded into a ball of fire and smoke. He’ll need to find a safe place to pull off onto the grass.

He pulls over to the side of the track to retire from the race. He’ll be gutted for sure, as he was in a good position to close in closer to Briere in the championship battle.

The timing confirms it was an Oil Leak that brought about the fiery end to Kederer’s race.

Briere would’ve seen Kederer pull off, and now knows that his lead in the championship is safe.

A podium for Paddock would be the next best thing to take home in his last race in the Nations Cup.

The other podium position is most likely going to go to Dixon.

Silvestre has run wide.

At least he can continue on.

As the replay shows, Silvestre locked up his brakes, which is what led to him running wide.

We may have a battle soon between De Boer and Girard.

Nikolov is added to the list of drivers that have been lapped.

This isn’t looking good for Silvestre. A lockup causes him to run off the track.

And is powerless to stop himself from hitting the wall.

The position he stopped the car in is quite a dangerous one, but at least a marshal is there to push his car away from the apex.

It appears that Girard managed to get by De Boer off camera.

With Briere in 10th, and Kederer no longer in the race, Briere’s lead in the championship will increase by 1pt.

Aspenstrom is getting closer to the back of Hatfield.

And it doesn’t take him long to put the UAE driver a lap down. Also, the timing shows that Paddock has managed to get by Dixon.

Even Cremasco has managed to get by.

Whatever the reason is for Dixon to have lost two positions has clearly been missed by the cameras.

Here is how the top 10 have moved since race start.

Let’s check out the current standings.

Only 1 and a bit laps left to go.

Car #13 currently in 13th.

Aspenstrom is on his way home. He took the lead after Silva’s Suspension failed on him, and since then he has completely dominated this race.

He enters the final corner for the final time.

And takes the chequered flag to win the Japanese GP.

Paddock finished in 2nd in his final appearance in the Nations Cup.

And Cremasco finishes in 3rd to take the final podium spot.

It was a fantastic race we saw here today. And at the end of it, only one driver could lay claim to the win. So congratulations Markus Aspenstrom and Team Sweden, our winner of Rd 12. It’s the first win for the team since Yas Marina in Season 2, their championship winning season, and there is sure to be a party for the team members later on. Anyways, that is it for today here at Aida. We hope everyone enjoyed our coverage, and we hope to see you all back here again when we bring you the coverage of the next round, which will be held in Zandvoort. So until then, it’s goodbye from Aida.

3rd boost that ended with a retirement, @#$%& this.
