What numbers? ;)

The current number system is similar to what F1 are now using, but instead of just #1 being reserved, #2 and #3 are reserved for the teams who finished in those positions. What I want to avoid is a situation where a team is using a number, then end up using either #1, #2 or #3 for the following season, then go back to the original number but can't do so as another team is using it. That's why I think we make it that once a number is chosen, it remains with the team and that way we can remove the need to have #2 and #3 reserved.

oh..
in that case, if anyone of the top 3 had #4 the season before, and wants it, I'll give it up.

I debuted with a favourite number, then have run the number i finished each previous season in the standings : #9 on debut, then #4 and now #2.... My intent for next season would be to run the number i finish in the points again, somewhere between #1 and #22.
Permanent numbers are nice in theory, but unless there is consentual agreement between any team wanting the same number, it has small potential to create trouble! If i ever had to choose a permanent number, it would be #34.
As for teams on the waiting list reserving numbers, i think that is a bit ludicrous! Wait until their entry is confirmed, then get to the back of the queue and see what is available at the time!

GPGSL Team Owner Debut - Melbourne, Season 8 - present
GPGSL Test Debut - Hungary, Season 4. GPGSL Race Debut - Adelaide, Season 5.
I think that numbers should be given as preference to those who last used them, and if a country uses the top 3 numbers, they hold the overall rights to that number (e.g. they can let someone else use it, but if they want it back when they don't hold 1/2/3 then they can have it back)
I would prefer to append the current system giving rewards for the top three of the previous season but keep their current numbers as reserved ones.
Didn't we had that same discussion a while back ?

Just for the record : Monaco #98 which is their postal code (98000 in fact)

Salut Gilles ;)

I thought the numbers were indeed chosen. And since season end season three the original numbers for the top 3 are reserved for when they might not be allowed to use number 1, 2 or 3. This is because I made a point back then about losing my number 6 after using number #2 over the course of season three, therefor I was forced to pick another number.

If you are racing, keep on racing and get some points!

Don't like personal numbers at all. They fit for MotoGP, were it's more about the drivers, not the teams. Or the way it's done in Indycar, with the teams holding the number.

Your suggestion is basically what we've been doing all along, expect for #2 and #3 no longer being reserved for the 2nd/3rd placed. Why not just keeping it the way it is? Btw, if you want to have the bold part in brackets as well, you have to do it, as I won't.

@Glen: You're right there, teams on the waiting list reserving numbers is ludicrous, will be removed.

#3 if you all want the suggested change. Had it last season, and iirc I only couldn't use it in S2 because of the current rule. Else #4, as other ones I'd chose are already taken.

try to get one that works with the country, I know if I wanted to I would have been getting something like 19, 4 or maybe a 49, as those are numbers I would generally like firstly. But I took 8 as Hakkinen won his first championship with #8, thus it is a number that makes sense in regards to Finnish motorsport. I would have had 6 probably more so but its taken

Boosts used for round 11:

Team: race/qualy

Netherlands: 200/200
New Zealand: 500/500
Finland: 150/150
Japan: 200/350
Canada: 300/500
China: 500/350
Argentina: 500/500
South Korea: 500/500
Brazil: 500/500
France: 500/300
UAE: 300/200
South Africa: 240/170

How about this then? We keep #1, #2 and #3 reserved for the teams who finish in those positions for the season, and the numbers currently being used by the teams stay with the team so that they can't be chosen by the teams currently using #1, #2 and #3 when they go back to using another number. What I think is that Germany, France and Bulgaria (teams currently using #1, #2 and #3) should be able to pick a number, and that number will be theirs to use for when they can't use the reserved numbers anymore (out of the numbers between #4 and #99 not currently being used would be the possible choices). Teams on the waiting list would most likely choose their number when they enter the series for their first race.

As for having the number show up next to the driver names ingame, I'm going to look into how to get it to do so. I've asked if there is a template for this, and if there is, I'll get into making them for sure.

So in conclusion we will do exactly what we are doing already, this conversation was one of the most pointless things Iv'e ever read.

The only problem with that is that the top 3 teams should be getting first preference over the numbers they last held before 1/2/3

That was the purpose of the rule.
