GPG Nations Cup S4 R17 - European GP [RACE ONLINE! | S5 carshape & tyre suppliers announced]

Team Ireland

It is with regret that I announce Team Ireland's withdrawal from the GPG Nation's Cup after the current round. With work, family and helping to run the GPGSL, I can no longer find the time to participate properly. I feel that the Nations Cup would be better to find someone who can devote more time. I will gladly allow the use of the Team Ireland livery if anyone would like to take over the entry. Again, sorry to all involved.

Sorry to hear that Stu, Ireland was one of the best teams last season, and it's very bad to lose a fellow member, but we're aware that real life always come first
See you at the GPGSL :)

shift2ify has already been contacted about his entry of the series, so hopefully he'll be able to provide everything needed before the next round takes part

Sad to hear that Stu, but as Nathan said, see you in the GPGSL ;)

I have all files from shift2ify since before round 1 already, so if he confirms his entry in the thread, he's in next round I'd say.

Part 1

Hello, and welcome back to Portimao. In yesterday’s qualifying session, we witnessed Team Great Britain take their first pole position of the season. Will they be able to convert it into a victory? Only time will tell. So, without further ado, let’s head trackside as the cars are now being prepared for the start.

Weather Report

Here we go. The cars have all returned from their warmup lap, and we are set for a start. Great Britain is on pole, with Australia right next to them, while behind them sit Canada and Sweden. When the lights go out, it’ll be showtime.

Away we go!

Paddock has made a great start, while behind him Briere has managed to get by McGregor. Meanwhile, Aspenstrom looks to have had a shocking start as he has already been passed by Girard, and is in danger of losing a place to Kederer.

The Canadian is able to hold onto his position as McGregor now has to deal with Girard.

After his bad start in which he lost 4th, Aspenstrom has managed to hold back Kederer in the battle for 5th.

Silva currently sits in 7th.

Hatfield has managed to make up one position since the start at the expense of Cremasco.

We go onboard with McGregor as he looks for a way past Briere down the main straight.

The Australian succeeds in his pass attempt, and moves up to 2nd.

A bit further back, Kederer has finally managed to get by Aspenstrom.

We find Grimaldi currently sitting inside the top 10.

Paddock’s lead looks to have increased slightly.

Down the main straight, Silva now looks for his chance to get by Aspenstrom.

Ahead of those two, Kederer looks to be in position to make a pass on Girard.

Kederer succeeds in getting by, and Silva also succeeds in getting by.

At the rear end of the top 10, there’s been a change in positions.

The timing shows how the current top 10 have moved since the start.

It seems Nikolov is currently on a charge as he has managed to drop Aspenstrom down another position.

Out in front, Paddock continues to extend his lead.

As we near the end of lap 3, let’s check out the current standings.

Kuei has a look up the inside of Domenech into the corner.

However, Domenech manages to keep hold of his position.

We have a battle taking place between Hatfield and Cremasco.

From the looks of it, the battle has been won by Hatfield who retains his position.

We have a yellow flag out.

Now we find Kuei right down the order.

According to the replay, it appears that Kuei put her South Korea car into a spin, and is narrowly missed by the cars coming through.

Kuei manages to get going again.

Back to the front, and Kederer has managed to get by Briere.

The German isn’t the only one who has gained a position. Silva has managed to get by Girard for 5th.

Nikolov continues to move up through the field as he has now gotten by Tafuro.

Grimaldi has managed to decrease the gap between himself and Aspenstrom.

We find Ihara currently sitting in 14th, a net gain of four positions since the start of the race.

Nikolov is really on the move. He now looks for his chance to get by Dixon.

And the Bulgarian succeeds in getting by.

Paddock’s lead has extended once again.

We have another yellow flag out.

Here’s the reason why we have a yellow flag situation. Kederer has pulled off the track, and it seems the problem in his car is terminal.

The timing shows confirmation of Kederer’s retirement.

Silva is doing his best to put Briere under pressure.

Domenech and De Boer are locked in battle.

We are now 7 laps in to this race, so let’s take a look at the current standings.

Down the straight, Silva looks for his chance to get by Briere.

And the Portuguese driver makes his move stick into the corner.

Domenech has lost a few positions since we last saw him.

Nikolov has managed to close right in onto the back of Girard.

He goes to the inside of Girard down the straight.

But he is unable to make the move work as Girard succeeds in defending his position.

We have a train starting to form behind Domenech.

It appears that Frutiger-Fussli has had an off somewhere which was missed by the cameras.

McGregor continues to hold onto 2nd place.

It’s now time for our first break. We’ll be back as soon as possible.

I want whatever rocket fuel Bulgaria has got in their tank - they're on a charge!
Good home race so far...

-----------------------------------------------------

Going to be a hard day for Antero it seems, but Silverstone showed us he can keep a car on the track in changeable conditions, so lets hope he keeps it on the road, and we'll let the opposition worry about staying on track as well
A good start and we're in 8th place... as long as we don't retire that's amazing ;)

Part 2

Welcome back.

We come back from the break to find Nikolov challenging Girard once again down the main straight.

Unfortunately for the Bulgarian, Girard continues to hold onto his position.

Further back, Domenech is being attacked by Tung.

And he loses the position to the Chinese driver.

There is another position change as Silvestre manages to get by Keranen.

There is a car off the track.

It turns out to be Domenech, who must’ve run wide due to the wet track surface.

Silvestre is forced to slow down a bit to avoid hitting the Argentina car, and it has allowed Keranen to close in and attempt to get by on the inside.

Fortunately, Domenech has managed to stay in front of both Silvestre and Keranen. As for the Finnish driver, he couldn’t make the pass work out.

Hatfield is trying for a pass on Taytoh.

And succeeds in getting by.

The first round of stops is now underway.

McGregor now finds himself in 11th after rejoining, while Tafuro and Grimaldi find themselves in the last two positions.

More pitstop action.

Nikolov has managed to jump Briere in the pits, but now finds himself dealing with traffic.

Paddock now takes his stop.

Silva and Girard are also in.

Paddock rejoins in 2nd.

How close is this? Silva rejoins, and finds himself having to take evasive action to avoid hitting Mcgregor. As a result, it leaves Silva in 6th.

Domenech and Cremasco both take their stops.

Dixon is in for his stop.

Ihara is in as well.

It seems the pitlane has gotten busy once again.

Tung heads McGregor, but the Chinese driver is still to make his first stop.

Girard and Nikolov are once again back in battle with each other.

Tung is now in for his stop.

Nikolov looks like he is close enough to Girard to try for a passing attempt.

And the Bulgarian finally makes the move stick.

Behind them, Dixon finds his way by Briere.

Tung finds himself back in 13th after rejoining.

Frutiger-Fussli is the last one to make his first stop.

Out in front, Paddock’s lead continues to increase.

With all drivers having taken their first stop, let’s take a look at the current standings.

Down the main straight De Boer looks for his chance to get by Grimaldi.

And he takes the position from the Monaco driver.

Tafuro is doing his best to keep in touch with Grimaldi.

Near the rear of the field, Frutiger-Fussli has lost a position to Silvestre.

A lap later, he finds himself under pressure from Kuei as the Korean tries for a passing move.

Taytoh may soon find himself having to defend his position as Silvestre chases him down.

Silvestre has a look up the inside down the main straight.

And he succeeds in making the pass stick.

A bit further back, Frutiger-Fussli is still holding back Kuei.

At the front of the field, it looks like Silva has closed in onto the back of McGregor.

The Portuguese driver heads to the inside as they go down the main straight.

And he tries to go up the inside into the corner, but McGregor succeeds in defending his position.

Time for yet another break, so stay tuned for the next part.

Team China

The race has been quite eventual so far. Cheng seems to be doing the best that he can manage. Only time will tell if he'll be able to make it into the top 10 by the end of the race, which is what we are hoping for.

Antero hasn't done too badly, jumped a few cars in the pit lane, now it is time for him to get cracking and catch up to those ahead if he can. 12 seconds is a hell of a way but we have faith in him for a reason.
Going good so far! Nice climb into the top 10, let's hope to grab a few more!
