Hi all,

i have a simple question for you, the damage model on original GP4 is not really realistic so i want to know is there any possibility to tweak it to be more sensitive.

Thanks.

Try the damage coefficient in GP4Tweaker.

Yes, that's the solution:
Values of about 350 % might be reatistic for 2000er's cars. Today's cars might be realistic simulated with about 200 %.

I have two configs

1: a lot weak, wheels and suspension rip off (to force a car retire)

[Damage]
;the comment is the game default value.
;it's not necessary to have it, but it might be good for reference
DamageCarsBounce =32 ;32
DamageWalls =7424 ;7424
DamageCars =8192 ;8192
DamageWallsBounce =16 ;16
NoseCone =1 ;2
RightWing =14 ;130
LeftWing =13 ;130
RightWingFence =12 ;66
LeftWingFence =11 ;66
RightFrontSuspension =450 ;136
RightFrontWheel =350 ;136
LeftFrontSuspension =650 ;68
LeftFrontWheel =550 ;68

RightRearSuspension =600 ;34
RightRearWheel =500 ;34
LeftRearSuspension =400 ;17
LeftRearWheel =300 ;17
EntireRearWing =5 ;256
RightRearWing =4 ;256
LeftRearWing =3 ;256
TopRearWing =2 ;256
LeftBargeBoard =2 ;8
RightBargeBoard =3 ;4

;adjust for more parts falling off

And a lot weak, but suspension and wheels more stronger (to keep the car into the track and send to the pit)

[Damage]

Every GPx game have that problem. ;) The solution however is listed above. :)

The old classics will be always better than the newest games.

Just an observation - but why do you make the right side of the car stronger than the left side?

I's because GP4 has a kind of bug that, if you put equal values in many parts, the damage does not work right. So, there have been putting somewhat randomly upwards and slightly down, the rear wing and bargeboard, for example. Now, check the front wing, there are high values than rear, it´s because that bug, and this way the 2 wings rip off apparently correctly, according to my tests...

But something strange happens to the wheels and suspensions. The more you raise, the weaker it gets. But this is because I have reduced all other values of the wings, sidepods, rear... Then I discovered that after reducing the value of the parts, if you increase the wheel, they are get weak.

It's strange, I do not know if you understood what I meant.

I used your settings (the first one) with several mods, but the cars seem to be way to strong to me. For example if i use GP4-Tweaker on a unmodded version of GP4 and set it to 200%, i get the damage i want. How can i set the damage.ini-File to an equal value? Since there is no such file in my unmodded GP4-Version, there is no way for me to compare.

Thank you for your help!

OK i have found a way to enable the Damage-Tweaker-Settings in CSM (found it in the 2018 mod, which i refer hereby to):

Step 1: Edit *.ini-Files:

Go to: C:\Infogrames\Grand Prix 4\GPSAVES\Carsets\"your mod"\Settings
_____________

GlobalVars.ini

Copy to ";Tweaker stuff" or ";Game settings" (f. e. between "tweak_visors" and "tweak_blackflag";) :

damage			=400

Copy f. e. between [tweak_visors] and [tweal_blackflag]:

[damage]
Allowchange		=1
Name			=GP4Tweaker - Damage Coefficient
Name Icon		=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico
VarCount		=13
Var1			=100
Var2			=125
Var3			=150
Var4			=175
Var5			=200
Var6			=225
Var7			=250
Var8			=275
Var9			=300
Var10			=325
Var11			=350
Var12			=375
Var13			=400
VarName1 Icon	=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico
VarName2 Icon	=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico
VarName3 Icon	=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico
VarName4 Icon	=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico
VarName5 Icon	=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico
VarName6 Icon	=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico
VarName7 Icon	=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico
VarName8 Icon	=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico
VarName9 Icon	=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico
VarName10 Icon	=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico
VarName11 Icon	=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico
VarName12 Icon	=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico
VarName13 Icon	=Files\Icons\tweaker.ico

If you want to use Icons (*.ico) you can f. e. copy them from another mod an put them to the right location (as above).
_____________

swap.ini

Copy to [Swapfiles]

File19		=Files\GP4exe\gp4_%damage%%.exe,gp4.exe

_____________

Step 2: Copy the folder "GP4exe" to

C:\Infogrames\Grand Prix 4\GPSAVES\Carsets\"your mod"\Data

You will find the "GP4exe"-Folder in the 2018-Mod (Link) in the same location.

As i undertand (didn't try it myself), you can also create the gp4.exe-files your self, by using a clean gp4-copy with gp4 tweaker, adjusting the damage-settings and just copying and renaming the gp4.exe to the folder above.

_____________

Once you are done, you should be able to change the damage-coefficient in CSM:

_____________

I tried this with several mods and it worked without any issues. Setting the damage to 300% finally gave me the damage i wanted.

There is some additional settings you can do in the damage.ini-File. I have found some good exeplanations in this topic;
