This is done so that it looks the same (not stretched) on widescreen as on the classic 4:3 resolution.

If you want the old behavior, edit the following keys in gpxsat.ini:

[Classic]
Scaling=1

[Digital]
Scaling=1

[Digital2004]
Scaling=1

Okay Rene, now I will return to one common problem from the past: the sound...

For some reason the car sound of the player's car is too low compared to the sound of the other cars. I can confirm that because I use default sound configuration in which your engine must have louder sound that the engines of the opponents.
Good news is that using 2D and 3D sound acceleration actually now works. I haven't tested EAX sounds because by default in my game they are causing BSOD. I think with GPxPatch will be the same...

The result above was achieved using 3D engine sounds, disable fake 3D sounds, 3D pit siren and 2D event sounds.

I only haven't tested the EAX sounds because of the reason mentioned above. I do not want yet another BSOD and I really don't know why this is happing because I already have the latest drivers for everything.

Not related with the sound is the lagg problem at the start of every race - I will underline that I'm using the default game with turned off the most fancy stuff and 60 fps settings!

The old classics will be always better than the newest games.

Hi Rene, thanks for all your work on GPx Patch. :)
I was just wondering, would it ever be possible to fix LAN mode so that the human participants don't always start from positions 1 and 2, but instead something that can be decided in GPxPatch?

I think the GPxCInfo scaling might be broken when using the 1280x1024 in-game resolution. I have a defpanel in my 2013 GP4 Central Mod, and when I use 1024x768 res, it it positioned OK. But if I switch to 1280x1024, it doesn't position correctly.

1024x768 = OK

1280x1024 = Broken?

It looks like you have Scaling set to "Center", in which case this behavior is by design. Try to set it to "Move to edges" or "Stretched".

If only I knew where this is located inside the game...

I've never heard about this problem before :)

I'm not sure what happens when you turn EAX off. If it disables the "Min. distance" and "Max. distance" settings of GPxSound then I can imagine the sound attenuation will not apply anymore and all the sounds will have the same volume (with same values for the engine revs). Otherwise, you could try to experiment with these settings until the selected car's engine sound is louder according to distance (it is the closest one).

Not sure what this is. The CPU has a lot more work to do with all the cars so close together at the start. If above 100% this will slow down the game because it keeps the frame rate constant.

Not impossible, just takes time to find it, and I don't have much time nowadays...

Okay, thanks René for your explanation. Maybe one day then? ;)
What you have already done, and are taking the time to do for GP4 is really appreciated. :) (B) (B) (B)

Here am I with the latest report:

GPxPatch was tested with everything on: 3D engine sounds, disabled fake sounds, 3D pit siren and 2D event sounds.

I confirmed that when I use 2D acceleration in-game and 3D is not enabled the other cars sounds are louder than my own engine.

This time I tested GP4 with my PC:

BSOD everytime when I use every option in the 3D sounds section including 3D sound effects in-game.
When 2D sounds only are enabled in-game and 3D are disabled the game works.
In the case above (only 2D sounds) the other car sounds are louder as I mentioned.

This effect was achieved both at my laptop and my PC.

I hope that this can be fixed. :)

Note: I refer to "in-game" about the options inside the game.

The old classics will be always better than the newest games.

Thanks for your answer, but I can't seem to find the scaling lines in gpxsat.ini..

Thanks for the update René (Y)
I managed to play GP4 without changing left-and right speaker sounds by unchecking the box with 3D Sounds where the pithorn.wav is in (don't know how it's exactly called as I'm writing from my laptop). That just for info.

I don't think all the sound problems have anything to do with GPxPatch. So I don't know how to solve them.

No problems with this, Im just reporting IF anything can be done. :)

It's just strange that I have the same problem on 2 totally different machines...

The old classics will be always better than the newest games.
