Good to see Mt Panorama finally being made for GP4. What I would like to know is how many laps a race will be for 100% distance? I can't see 161 laps being 100%,.

Maybe just go the F1 standard of 305km?

How many laps would that be? Similar to Spa and classic Hockenhiem? If thats ends up being the case, then I can see 100% being around 44-45 laps.

I think it would be 50 laps

Yep, it looks great and seems to be very accurate in layout, a trait which I hold in very high regard.

However, elevation-wise, it still seems to be very very bumpy.

It's very hard because on one hand, it is very hard to get the elevations right, it's very undulating, hardly possible to use the smooth Cosine curves of the Builder. On the other hand though, elevation is what gives this track its character, so it is a must to get right and smooth for a good player experience.

When this track is finished it must be the definitive Australian GP for the GPGSL and GPGNC series. Good bye Melbourne!

Thanks guys

@Mullet345
50 laps works just fine. Thanks SchueyFan. The idea of 1000km race length is being worked on. SDI has enabled us once again. Realise that the screenshot is just so we can continue hoping we can make it work.

@ Atticus
Thank you for your comments. I do understand clearly what you're saying. I do have firsthand knowledge of the circuit and I am doing my best to make an accurate .dat. Sometimes that includes adding bumps and off camber. There is lots to be done and at the moment I'm adding textures, background objects and the likes to give me a better perspective to where I am exactly, to help me with prospective while making finer adjustments.

@ Turbo Lover
It does make for some exciting racing at Bathurst, excellent passing moves and 208km average speed.

@auscain: All is well, take your time. If you dig deep enough and stay committed enough, I'm sure it will pay off sooner or later in the shape of a great track. :-)

@auscain, if a V8 Supercar mod could ever be created, then 161 laps would be perfect on this track. For Formula One, 50 laps would be the better option. And I agree with Turbo Lover. This track should be allowed on the calender of the GPGSL and GPGNC. I'm looking forward to seeing how progress turns out as this track gets worked on.

And if it's possible, maybe somewhere down the line the other Australian circuits can be made for GP4. I can only hope that they can be made.

How about making the new layout used for the Gold Coast 600?

Surfer's is so great! But I liked the old layout more ;-).

Phillip Island
Oran Park
Adelaide F1-layout
Adelaide V8-layout
Canberra 400

WIP:

Unavailable (just the bigger circuits):
Surfer's Paradise (new layout)
Sandown

Even though we Aussies have great passion for the Bathurst 1000, The Great Race. I’m no longer working on the idea of 161 laps of Bathurst.

We will however see GP4 formula 1 cars doing laps of Mount Panorama, based on the exhibition laps in 2009.

Keep the topic “Bathurst 2009 work in progress” and start your own thread if you wish to talk about the possibilities of Winton Motor raceway in Grand Prix 4.

It occurred to me that I should probably share at least something of an update, if not the perfect render.
This screen shot represents last weekend's work on the walkway overpass. Everything including the stairs was built in 3d and then an image was captured within the GP4 Builder. The textures for the stairs and framing were created from those shots reducing the faces by 600. At this stage I'm not having a problem with the file size or the faces count however it is a large circuit of over 6 km and there are many more objects to build. I believe I have achieved a very similar end result in the overall appearance using this method. My textures are far from perfect nevertheless I'm learning lots on the fly and things come together pretty quickly these days.

Still working on the shadows...

Recently I animated some flags for the main straight only using 6 frames, I believe they look okay in game and again it was quite the learning curve. I have not had much time this summer to work on Bathurst, fall is right around the corner and I will have more time this winter to work on my hobby. I am very passionate about building the circuits that I know and love and I believe I am completely addicted to the world of 3d modeling and textures creating.

Be assured that Bathurst is being worked on constantly and it will eventually be complete and editable for any that care to do it:-)
