I do like that Merc, can even tolerate it's frankly hilarious extremity in the "step".
First teaser pic of the new HRT. Could this be once again the most awesome looking car of the grid (IMO)?

I like how they talked about having a new car and yet its the same Dallara that they criticized in 2010 with yet just another new nose like last year. Way to aim at making progess 
To be honest I think that is simply a graphic render of a car hashed together for their own website. Whilst I expect the new car to be almost identical to the 2011 car (and 2010 before it) there are a couple of things that might require attention. Part of that nose come might exceed the maximum height permitted, the exhaust regs have changed and lastly but fairly probably least those tyre markings are not of the 2012 Pirelli.
All in all just a hastily thrown together web image, though it might stand a better chance of passing the crash test than the actual car.

I quite like it, actually. The silver masks the step a little, too.

I just hope it's a "step" forwards in competitiveness after their previous crappy cars. No point making a sexy-looking car if it's struggling to bother the top 6. Mercedes need to stop being a disappointment this year, they need this car to be pretty damn good.
You have to be fair to this team though - they have gone through a few transitions over the last few years.
That in itself will disrupt development patterns. Different management and styles behind the factory that we don't see - office politics - take time to settle.
This is only the third year with Mercedes' full input.
It took BMW a fair amount of time to make a mark and win their first race.
But I agree, this is the third year and I would be disappointed if they fail to get at least one driver in the top 6 every race without fail; and at least 5 or 6 podiums to call it a step forward.
As for Rosberg, I will fanboy him to the end. He deserves better. Captain reliable, but lacking that killer edge it seems.
I almost wonder if he has spent so long clocking points he has lost the tough edge. I've seen too often he is soft at being overtaken - a little like Nick Heidfeld.
7 retirements since the start of the 2008 season though, that's a good stat.
When you take into account Red Bull / Ferrari / McLaren are easily the top three tier and have been for a long time (bar Brawn); you have to be realistic and consider 7th place is 1st place to them then.
You look at 2009 in the FW31 and see the string of 4ths and 5ths. In a WILLIAMS!
Nico had better come of age this year. I am really hoping so.
And then we have Kimi.

It'll be the 2011 car because HRT are still waiting on the Lego for the 2012 car being delivered.

Just a tweet from Andrew Benson earlier:
