Gutierrez clearly does have some talent - I remember watching him in Formula BMW back in 2008 and thinking he might be a future F1 Champion, he was so dominant. He's just been relatively disappointing since he got into F1.

Maybe Ferrari are thinking along the same lines and looking to nurture him in the reserve driver role.

The Ferrari/Sauber link through the engine supply is obvious. I wonder how much that allows them to keep tabs on drivers.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

Remember the reaction when Ferrari signed Massa as a test driver, then look what happened he became a race winner and on occasion faster than MS.

I don't expect Gutierrez will get much running tbh, I have never seen him as a great driver in f1 or GP2.

This is enough of a crime for him to be in my sin bin.

HOW!? I mean really, HOW!?

Her name is Paola Ruiz Adame apparently, seems like she's a model.

Maybe it's time to resurrect the old F1 wives/GFs thread. ;)

I'll have some of that please, seems the slower you lap the better side product you get.

By that reckoning Giovanni Lavaggi is in a relationship with the subject of Emmanuelle 4 (NSFW).

Ferrari continues to bleed talent. Fry and Tombazis are leaving.

Felipe Nasr has picked number 12 for his race number.

Another really original number choice! They might as well have kept the old numbering system as most of the drivers have picked numbers between 1-25.(N)

Do you think I should just remove Caterham and Marussia from the list or do you think they might make it?

It looks more unlikely by the minute that either will make it.

Caterham still insist that they are talking to interested parties, there's utter silence from Manor, although I gather the auctions have been going on.

It's a real shame, it's bad enough to lose Caterham even though the shaningans over the last year made them look like a complete clusterfuck, but it's really annoying to lose Manor, who actually seemed to develop into a tidy little race team, out scoring Sauber is not an achievement to be sniffed at even if it was slighty lucky.

Here's a rule they should implement which would actually improve the spectacle and cease cessation of the driver market:

Each driver cannot drive for the same team for more than three seasons.
And, each team cannot keep the same driver lineup for more than two seasons.

I am a genius. Put me in charge.

Keep trying, you'll get there eventually. I'm pretty sure that's no better an idea in terms of spectacle as the whole sprinklers idea that was rightly panned by all and sundry - and I can imagine all of the teams up and down the grid (not to mention the drivers themselves) would have something to say about a driver being arbitrarily forced out of a team purely because the rules say they've been a part of that team too long.

Haha. The sprinklers are preposterous though.

Just think, mid 00's how many people would oppose my rule? Not many.

EDIT: what's interesting is that we have different opinions on how bad single team or driver dominance is for the sport. Very bad, in my opinion, and I know it has to be a free market and you can't penalise success bla bla but... it would mix things up.

I could help you out. We could replace Bernie. Make sure the entire back catalogue of classic F1 footage is uploaded to YouTube and no restrictions on fans seeing any of it(Well, except maybe footage of the tragic accidents obviously - but absolutely no restrictions on the rest).
I could be the circuit designer too, and be in charge of organising the calendar - things would improve, and fast. :P

High five!

Big sticky slicks. V10s. Customer cars (F1 needs shi**y privateers). Estoril. Low, unstepped noses. "Musical chairs" rule as discussed above. Imola. Ban on Santander trophies. Non championship races in exotic places. Jean Alesi. Maybe even V12s. More engine suppliers. Laguna Seca.

What else?

More than one tyre supplier. Tyres that allow driving fast and don't fall into pieces if you do 2 or 3 consecutive fast laps. Old Hockenheim. Partial ban of team radio so that it's the driver driving and not the race engineer. Indy. Pre 2010 Silverstone. No DRS. Reasonable penalties. Pre '98 car width. No parc fermé in case of changing weather conditions.
