Red Bull 'may quit F1', says owner Dietrich Mateschitz

Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz says his company could quit Formula 1 if he is not happy with the way the sport is run.

His remarks follow Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo's exclusion from the Australian Grand Prix and the adoption of new rules.

Mateschitz said Red Bull's future in F1 was more "to do with sportsmanship and political influence" than finance.

He said: "In these issues there is a clear limit to what we can accept."

He also referred to the "inappropriate politicisation" of the sport.

Hmm, yeah.

Red Bull in general have been a big asset to F1. They are a superb operation, a sublime F1 team. But in some ways I think they've grown too used to winning because this is the kind of petulant posturing you might expect from Ferrari.

I may or may not revise that statement when and if I can bothered reading the full article.

well they can @#$%& off as long as FIA accepts a decent replacement, there are many teams capable of entering F1, but for some reason ($$$$$$$) FIA chooses the wrong ones.

After the way they practically destroyed the FOTA, due to short term advantages offered by Bernie to defect, I'd say leaving because you are not winning would be good riddance... no correct that, a great riddance. Let's have the implosion, and then learn the lessons for the future that can create a better F1.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.
