Just wondering - why was he allowed to disappear off of the F1 radar?

He led on his debut in a Spyker. I was massively impressed by it. Why wasn't there more interest in him from top teams after that?

He didn't appear to be very good. He was miles off the pace in qualifying. He led on his debut because he was the only driver to take a risk and start on the wet tyres. I'd like to think on a wet track I, on wet tyres, could lap quicker than a top F1 driver on dry tyres.

I'd be impressed if you could... Yet the point stands.

Hmmm, you might well be right. I never paid much attention to his laptimes in quali, just his drive in the race, where any lack of pace from him would've been masked pretty effectively by the car and weather conditions.
But it would explain a lot.
