I hope Elano is hurt for the next game. His fluke goals cannot keep him in that line-up.

i think they played what they need to.. they know they have the talent, they know they have the game is just matter of not getting desperate

what we all want to see is having them starting the game loosing.. that'll get them pissed and it'll probably show their true potential

at least they have no worries for next game against Portugal, but hopefully Portugal scores the first goal and then we'll se how they cope without Kaka
they showed a weakness today, how not to behave whilst winning, someone (Argentina?) might use that against them in the future

If I was Capello, against Slovenia I would play...

                    James

        Johnson Terry Dawson A.Cole

                    Barry
   Lennon J Cole
                   Gerrard
       Defoe Crouch

I'm not jumping on the Rooney-bashing bandwagon, but he has been really poor, his body language is unacceptable and he should be dropped.
If a teammate misplaces any pass he throws his arms up in the air and swears. He should look at himself and his play first.

I guess they can always substitute him early-ish on if it doesn't work out with him.
What is going on with that team though? Is it pressure? Disorganisation? Have they not gelled well enough?
I thought Capello was their best chance for ages to make it to the final stages of a World Cup. I'm not crazy about football(though I do make an effort to follow the WC and Euro Championships) and certainly not an England fan, but I did expect them to do better than this.

Nah, Capello's just not gone for the form players...Adam Johnson and Darren Bent were really performing well last season and they didnt get in to the final 23-man squad.
Ryan Shawcross and Joleon Lescott were also overlooked, however it can be said that Lescott's season wasn't his best.

Also, Heskey is shocking. He can't run and doesn't have the skill with the ball on the ground. Crouch is much more effective in that role.

I expect Tshabalala to go to the EPL next season, hopefully Arsenal but most likely a midtable team. Sad to see S. Africa go but their inexperience cost them heavily, at least they left with a nice dominating victory!

Domenech after the game doing all he can to avoid Parreira ;)

well i guess the Americans deserved it more than the Brits.. so if England was going USA should as well

that's footbal, last game is as important as the first, last minute as well

too bad for Slovenia, they where in with 2 minutes to go!!

imho England showed a better game than previous ones, but it was a clear modest rival... the mistakes they gave to Slovenia in defense could've been critical against one of the bigger teams.. clearly an area they need to improve... Rooney is getting closer on the other end though

A pity for Slovenia, but an exciting finish to the group!

Group D could be great as well, all four teams are a chance of progressing.

I'm going to give myself a heart attack by supporting this USA side.

Tough for Slovenia, they were good as well. But I think its the right result.

Germany and Argentina could be one hell of a quarter final as well.

I think Uruguay for the other side as well.

Last World Cup's champion and runner up finish bottom of the groups, New Zealand finishing above Italy is amusing.

Italy did a crappy match as far as Pirlo wasn't playing.when he entered the team started to attack. When Quagliarella scored his irregular goal i was already jumping with my friend, then we knew that the goal was irregular...

I don't see Uruguay getting past the US. It really shows the importance of getting 1st place, some of these match-ups are laughable. Group A was weak, group B even weaker, group D is not as weak as A or B but still poor, E is reasonably easy, group F was perhaps the easiest for Italy, and group H is very poor too.

but mate you don't know one thing:into Italian's team didn't have any really talented guy.The CT(Marcello Lippi) preferred to don't take some guys who really deserved it,like:

Antonio Cassano.afaik he didn't bring him because he had a fight with Lippi's son;
Mario Balotelli.young and really good.Would be great to know why he didn't bring him to SA

at least he blamed himself...
