Race 12 - Monza, Italian GP

Another pole position this season went to me. Both Williamses and Schumacher behind. The race start was a smooth one as nobody was charging behind me. I easily kept the lead and started covering the distance. Damon Hill, unexpectedly judging by the results of the qualifiers, started decreasing the gap. He was right behind but it turned out it was due to light fuel load as he pitted around lap 15. One lap later Coulthard retired from the race and now Schumacher was in 2nd, some 12 seconds behind. I was unable to increase the gap which was remaining at a reasonably safe level of 12-13 seconds. In lap 24 I got a transmission failure and retired from the race. Schumacher was 1st, Hill second. The order changed only for a while after the pit-stops. Shortly before finish Hill had some problems and had to pit. Eventually, he finished the race 12th.

Now it's extremely tight in the WDC table. I am 5 points clear of Hill, who has only a one-point advantage over Schumacher who in turn is three points ahead of Coulthard. Only five races to go and nothing is certain. It starts to look like my 1994 F-1 season I played a few months back.

The winner - Schumacher, 2nd - Herbert, 3rd - Frentzen

Race 13 - Estoril, Portuguese GP

This time I didn't claim the pole position as I was a one tenth slower than Hill. Schumacher was third and Coulthard fourth. The qulaifying session took place in strange conditions as it had just stopped raining when the session started. First sector was dry, 2nd sector - partially wet while the final sector - extremely wet. Luckily I managed to get good time and had great expectations towards the race. The race day was a rainy one. I didn't take it as a good omen as I knew the start would be a lottery, especially here where first three turns are right-handers. I needed to keep the position and not let anyone pass me. I started from the right side of the track so I expected a lot. The start was an enormously hectic one. Hill started well but I managed to get equal with him. I would have passed turn 1 hadn't I been hit in the back by Schumacher which resulted in my running wide and losing a lot of positions. I ended up in 16th position. Luckily I got myself back to 10th place and hoped for something more. Unfortunately, trying not to hit Morbidelli who suddenly deccelerated, I hit Panis, lost front left, spun off, hit the barriers and lost the other front wheel...as far as I remember, it's another Portuguese GP which ends up for me in lap 1. I don't know how the race progressed but I know that Schuamcher had an engine failure while Hill crashed out in the middle of the race. The bad news is that Coulthard was third. The victory was claimed by Johnny Herbert. He finally made it.

The winner - Herbert, 2nd - Alesi, 3rd - Coulthard

Seems there you're championship is getting a little drama before the end, good to the fans, bad for u.

Good luck for the remaining races.

Cheers
Race 14 - Nurburgring, European GP

I won the qualifyings by 0.8 sec in front of Schumacher, Herbert and Hill. The race start was a calm one as nobody wanted to lose position or get involved in a shunt. Hill was really quick and pulled away leaving Schumacher and Herbert behind. I kept making margin pretty easily. In lap 14 Hill got a puncture and retired. I pitted in lap 15 and while exiting the pit-lane my heart stopped beating. I left the pits right behind Schumacher and in front of Martin 'dunderhead' Brundle who didn't mind the pit-lane exit and nearly crashed into me. Only thanks to my quick reaction I managed to avoid the contact. I passed Schumacher and started making my way to the victory. After second round of pit-stops I was 45 seconds ahead of Schumacher. The top 6 didn't change and I finished the race as a winner.

The winner - Hakkinen, 2nd - Schumacher, 3rd - Coulthard.

WDC
1.Hakkinen 60
2.Schumacher 50
3.Coulthard 49
4.Hill 45
5.Herbert 36
6.Alesi 23

...now you see what it looks like, and still three races to go

hold on! a small effort for the title! :)

-------------------------------
Great job there, i just finished a GP3 season of 1989 with the Lotus Judd as Satoru Nakajima claiming a win in Hungary and scoring 20 points in total. my teammate Nelson Piquet score 28 :( hehe. I guess i crashed to much out of top 6 positions.

Only points finishes were 6th in Brasil, 2nd in Imola, 4th at the nurburgring and 1st in Hungary. Still not racing 100% length tho. Now in 1990 im drivnig the Ferrari of Nigel Mansell next to Alain Prost trying to support Prost in his championship effort and for me to drive in front much more not havingto push to much. (However i still crash ! :P) 2nd behind Boutsen in Australia (where i spun while leading) and 2nd behind Prost in Argentina are my only points scoring results so far. In Brasil someone drove me of the track while i qualified in the bacl due to a loose wheel in my fast lap effort, in Imola i had to retire from 1st with a transmission problem :( Spain however i drove into Patrese while overtaking. Up to Monaco, i hope i can be moer of a use to Prost and Ferrari in there :D

As you might have noticed im still using the 1998 track pack. abdelkader do you have like all trackpacks of the seasons you are driving??

You have done a good job anyway scoring with Nakajima :)

Yes, I do have the tracks of the seasons I emulate. Actually, they are not trackpacks but single tracks. I do 100% non-champinship races and save the results in Roberto Scandura's Race Manager.
If I don't have some track I search for it on the Internet until I find it.

By the way - I'm still running 1995 F-1 season but lately I have suffered from a sudden motivation breakdown and still don't know when I'm going to finish the season.

haha, it are 3 mor races you are almost a champ, Do it for McLaren You can bring them to the first championship since the late Senna scored his last in 91, you should finish it ;) Tahat Race manager thing, i cannt find it and when i do i cant get it to runpropery. How does it ork?

I'll try to keep 1st position with Mika but ain't gonna be easy stuff to do. :) As I said, I really cna't find motivation right now. Anyway, I'll surely finish this one. It'd be a waste to leave it unfinished like that.

As for Race Manager,it is available at Roberto Scandura's site of course.

It works in the following way: you race a non-championship race in GP3. Then you save your results (qualifiers, race, track records, best laps) in txt files. Then you simply export those files to Race Manager. Thanks to this utility you don't have to run a full season in GP3 and you can arrange as many races as you need and you are not limited to the 16 default races of GP3.

Race 15 - Tanaka International Circuit, Pacific GP

In fact I don't remember much of the qulaifying session as it was...on May 4 I last played this race :P
Anyway, I claimed pole position in front of Schumacher, Coulthard and Hill.

The race started in torrential conditions as a result of which I dropped back to 3rd constantly losing it to Schumacher and Hill. They were already 20 seconds ahead. Around lap 52 the rain stopped and the track started to dry. All the cars, including me, stopped for tyres. I was still about 20 seconds behind Schumacher and Hill. In lap 65 Hill crashed out and now it was me who took 2nd place 25 seconds behind Schumacher and 20 seconds in front of Herbert...and here happened something which I could call a "fantastic tragedy". Namely, when I came to terms with getting 2nd place losing to Schumi, I got a water leak right in front of the pit-lane entrance. It was amazing to see fire in the rear view mirrors and the pit-stop guys repairing it :) I got back to race but this time I was 42 seconds behind Schumacher and right in front of Herbert. Schumacher was going straight to the finish on his deteriorated softs while I had just got fresh dry softs and started setting flying laps. Throughout the following laps I kept decreasing the gap...5 seconds per lap, then 4, 3. Five laps from finish I could see Schumacher right in front. I passed him easily and won the race by 25 seconds...I think I have just got a motivation boost for the oncoming two final races :D

The winner - Hakkinen, 2nd - Schumacher, 3rd - Herbert

WDC:
Hakkinen - 70 points
Schumacher - 56 points
Coulthard - 52 points

Interesting things are going on in the Constructors' Championship:

Williams-Renault : 97 points
Benetton-Renault : 96 points

Race 16 - Suzuka, Japanese GP

As I didn't have a good setup for the track and was nowhere near the mid of the grid I went on testing the car extensively during two practice sessions. I used different setups, adjusted nearly everything but still was 4-5 seconds slower than other drivers. The setup I managed to come up with let me claim 16th position. Let alone the fact that the qualifying session took place in horrible rainy conditions. I think I have never been so frustrated - two races to go and I couldn't do ANYTHING to improve my performance.
Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with "fair play" and competition but...I decided to withdraw from the race as the prospect of losing 5-6 seconds per lap wasn't promising to me. :/
The pole position was taken by Coulthard followed by Schumacher and Herbert.

The race day was similar to the qualifying session. Heavy rain over Suzuka, which has proved that my withdrawal wasn't a hasty one.
Due to the withdrawal, I don't know how the race progressed...The only thing is that Gerhard Berger won it for Ferrari being the ONLY (!!!) driver who FINISHED the race. All the rest got either a DNF or suffered from mechanical issues.

The winner - Berger, 2nd - Katayama (suspension failure), 3rd - Irvine (DNF)

After all, Mika Hakkinen has become the F-1 1995 World Drivers' Champion

Now Adelaide...another of my favourite tracks at which I set nothing but flying laps <irony mode on>

GREAT NEWS, GOOD TO SEE YOU REALLY PROGRESSED WITRH IT :) (oops sorry for caps).

look like that water leak in Tanaka was the key to youre win haha. Suzuka is always a downplay for me aswell. Never can get the swing up there. :(

Congratulations with youre Championship win ! :)

Race 17 - Adelaide Street Circuit, Australian GP

To my enormous surprise, I claimed pole position for the first time ever here in Australia. I was just petrified. 2nd position for Coulthard, 3rd for Hill.

As for the race, I managed to keep first place after the start. Coulthard dropped down while Herbert and Schumacher kept respectively 2nd and 3rd positions. Later on Coulthard got an engne failrue and retired. I was increasing the gap which at its peak reached 15 seconds. The situation remained the same after the first round of pit-stops. Then I got another "tragedy". I was informed about the suspension failure...whcih happened right in front of the pit-lane entrance so once again I manged to get my car repaired and rejoined the race. This time I dropped down to 5th and had to chase the rivals. Luckily with my fresh tyres they were not a competition to me. After 57 laps I regained the lead having Herbert and Schumacher behind. At this point I was 35 seconds ahead of Herbert but he still hadn't visited the pit-stop for the second time. I wanted to check whether, after his pit-stop, he would be decreasing the gap. Finally, Herbert pitted and in the following lap he was faster by more than two seconds. It was a signal for me to pit again. I did it and got back to the track having a 23-second advantage over Herbert. From now on the gap kept increasing to finally reach 48 seconds in the final lap. I won at Adelaide for the very first time and won 1995 WDC :) :) :)

I must say it was the most exciting season I ever played. In 1994 the situation was more or less clear at the end of the season. In 1979 I was sure I'd be the champion somewhere after two-thirds of the campaign. Here, in 1995, having two races to go I could've as well finished third in WDC had Schumi and Coulthard performed at their normal level. I really appreciate the title.

Actually, I was the fastest driver on the grid but low reliability deprived me of at least 3 victories. (which in turn made the competition more harsh and interesting) I really would like to thank Schumacher, Coulthard and in the latter part of the season, Herbert for increasing my blood pressure during every race :P

All right, the decision has been taken...the next season will be GP2 2007 as Giorgio Pantano from Campos.

Maybe you have noticed a certain regularity of my season simulating. Namely, I started my first season (F-1 1994) with a backmarker - Roland Ratzenberger from Simtek. When I finished really high in the WDC I decided to start the following season (F-1 1979) with a relatively good driver being somewhere in the middle of the grid being more likely to win some races - Niki Lauda from Brabham. Unexpectedly, I won many races and became the champion. As a result, for another season (F-1 1995) I chose a really good driver who was expected to achieve a lot but having a slightly unreliable car - Mika Hakkinen from McLaren. As I won the championship, I decided to choose one of the top drivers now - Pantano from Campos. After three seasons in F-1 I decided to switch to GP2. I hope for interesting races. As you see, although in anti-chronological, my driver choice depends on my progress and the achievements.

I have some questions concerning GP2 simulating in GP3 1.13

1. How do you bypass "reversed grid" rule in a second GP2 race? Maybe it is possible only through playing quickraces adjusting at least player's car position beforehand?
2. In order to use this method, I should increase the race distance of a quickrace. Is it possible in GP3 1.13?

Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/22/2009 01:34AM by abdelkader.
hello mate, you can adjust the quickrace length if you simply use GPxPatch, wether you can change the drivers in the order you want them... hmm i dont know rlly. A reverse grid at least wont work.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. I wanted to ask where to find this option in GPxPatch when, taking the very last attempt, I scanned through GpxPatch and found "session settings". One down - a quickrace is prolongued. Now I can start racing :)

Great job, im at school so couldnt see GPxpatch. ;) and how can you put the drivers where you want them?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHAMPIONS of GPGSL S1 in both CONSTRUCTORS as DRIVERS STANDINGS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I suppose I won't put them in the correct order. To do this I'd have to decrease Ability range to 0 and adjust their performance according to a feature race results whci hwould completely mess up all the things and the results of the following races. I'll only put myself in the correct place. I think it is the only reasonable solution in this case. It's a pity that you don't just have 22 empty positions into which you'd drag and drop the names of the drivers.

I dont understand why you are going to do a GP2 series anyway. I on one hand am doing a career from 1989 till 2004. (dont have a 2005 carset :() Otherwise i could do till the end of 2006 :D started as told before with Lotus. Then turned to Ferrari in 1990 finishing 6th overall crashing to much (as i did with lotus aswell).

And now in 1991 im in my 2nd Ferrari year, driving next to Jean Alesi. First race i finished 2nd, close to Senna, lost it there in qualy. started 6th, went to 2nd in the first corner, couldnt match Senna in the first two laps, but then i was quicker. Couldnt overtake him though :( (((10% race distance).

in Brazil, i started 9th, worked my way up to 2nd, behind Mansell, Senna overtoook me on the strat in Lap 3, but braked right in front of me almost immediately, Bang there went my front nose. Where Senna finished 2nd i had to retire :( After three races already thinkin wether or not to stay at Ferrari. If i do i wanna sign a 2 year deal again :p So that would be till the end of 1993. Or one year at a less competetive team, trying to finish races instead of retiring. Mabey that would help ! :p But then where to return? it shoudl be including a testing contract at a more competetive team then :p

I'm doing GP2 now as I wanted to taste something new. Keeping my way of thinking and choosing drivers, I'd have to choose Schumacher or the late Hakkinen having great cars. Winning would be too easy. Now in GP2, all the cars have similar power and everything is possible here. I've already done some quickraces and I must say it was really tough to beat the rivals. Besides , I like GP2 :)

By the way, check your mail Rico. :)
