Hi all !!!

I installed some oval tracks for CART and Formula INDY where I am with the following problem.

GP3 1:13 NOVICE mode
GPxPatch 4:23 - Car power team dependent
GP3 Default set-up ( wings.... etc... )

I start on the grid at the last position ( It is my challenge for all race )

I gain some positions right at the start ( wow )
Soon after I am already at full speed ...
but the other cars are faster than me ...

My top speed is about at nearly 300 km/h but the rest are just over 320 Km/h !!!!!!!!!!!

Overtaking me...
car after car and I fell positions ....
I can not follow them ...
I'm 20km/h slower at every lap ...

Now I am the last position.... and soon the first car will overtake me... and the others too...

what can it be ?

help me !!!

Hi.
If you are playing with the "car power team dependant" option, it could be the BHP of your team's car.
Or maybe it could be your rear wing setup: on many ovals the CC's use a 1 or 0 rear wing setup. Check your setup.
You need to open the MD file of the track, and check your rear wing setup and the CC's setup.
Let me know something more.

I did a test with the best car and it happens the same...

I need to open the MD file of the track and check the set up.... if there is MD or not....

My rear wing setup is default... I do not change the set up... nothing....

I would like to know.... if my wing set up is 10 and MD set up is 1, what does set up the GP3 assume ? MD or Game set up???

The same with GPxPatch 4:23 -
Car power team dependent..... inside the game the set up is Car power team dependent too.... if I change, what does it happen ??? GPxPatch assume or the Game ?

I think is GPxPatch because I paly the game starting by it...

help me !!!!

(*) with street and permanent tracks it does not happen...

Usually you need to draw a setup to get the best out of the car. In Novice mode it's often not necessary but on oval the max speed is very important, so you should lower down your rear wing to get a better max speed.

how I see it:
MD-Data is for Computer controlled cars
ingame-carsetup is for the car you´re driving

and as the other members say, you have to lower your backwing-setting to 1 or 0.

then your MD-file should also contain these values!

if your car is still slower, you could maybe use "GP3Edit" to give yourself more horsepower (hopefully I´m right here)

If you dirive a race in a track in slot 6, for example, you use the default setup for Monaco 98: rear wing 20!
If you don't set up the car properly, the race will never be realistic, because the CCs could be much faster or slower than you.

Hi friends !!!

It is always good when questions arise because through them we can learn many things especially when we find people willing to teach us.

Let me clarify a few points so that you can help me further.

I'm creating the 1989 session of the CART and the third stage is the Indianapolis 500. ( Indy 500 )

I'll use the Indy500.zip file in slot 3. Indy500.zip

I installed GP3 in full mode, applied the patches needed to play (GP3 1:13 Official Patch and No-CD) here is

Also installed GPxPatch 4:23

And just set up the GP3 to play via the keyboard, graphics frame and realism of the cars.

Novice Mode and other minor adjustments as metric to display km/h size of the race .... but nothing related to car configuration like (wings, balance, brake ...)

Here is my "Novice Mode"

F1 Auto Brakes = OFF
F2 Auto Gears = ON
F3=Self correcting spin = ON
F4 Indestructible mode = OFF
F5 = Ideal line = OFF
F6 Suggested gear = ON

difficulty level = performance for teams and drivers

play the game and all ok !!!

After, I installed carset ( CART 1989 ) .... and new tracks ... configured GPxPatch .... carshape, Physics, tracks, sounds .... all ok....

Now...

Inside this track ( Indy500 ) we have the following MD.

CC Front Wing=3
CC Rear Wing=1
CC 1st Gear=25
CC 2nd Gear=35
CC 3rd Gear=45
CC 4th Gear=54
CC 5th Gear=62
CC 6th Gear=70

My car or GP3 "default" ( for all tracks )

Front Wing=15
Rear Wing=15
1st Gear=25:64
2nd Gear=32:64
3rd Gear=39:64
4th Gear=45:64
5th Gear=51:64
6th Gear=56:64

I saw that for all drive and track I have the same set up above.....

Where did you see this ? Where do I see this ?

I thought the MD file was for all cars.....

I thought the magic date was for all cars including mine. But now I know that is only for the other cars .... mine does not, right?

And Physics File ? Chages all.... including mine ????

I have no problems with street and permanent tracks with this setup. Only Oval tracks, most of them....

I'm not sure about physics, but i guess thats for all cars.

just by looking at your setup, its already clear that your top speed will be much lower than your opposites.
Although, the setup in the MD seams a bit too optimistic.

I would try for your own setup something like this
FW 3
RW 1
1st 26
2nd 35
3rd 43
4rd 51
5th 58
6th 65

your default setup is for hungaroring very suitable, but not for many other tracks.
I cannot imagine this one would work for spa or monza

The best way to have a decent setup is to look at the MD and set your own car to a similar setup.
After a few test runs, and when you're happy with the result, save this setup with a specific name.
If you do this for every track, you can load a different, optimized setup for every specific track.

This is also the reason why we add an MD file in every track, in this way we over-ride the built in setup for the CC-cars.

I hope this answers some of your questions or doubts.

Holemad is absolutely right.
You have problems with very fast ovals, i suppose, because of your rear wing setup: 15! this is why you are slower than the CCs.

I'm back to let you know about the test done. You are all absolutely correct.

I first decreases the values of the front wing and rear (FW = 3 and RW = 1) and it was notorious increased speed ....

Then I increased a little gear ratio ...

Now the final velocity is equal to that of other cars ... 320 km/h ...

If I greatly enhance the value of the sixth gear my car is much faster than others ....

so I calibrated a value that it is very close ... now the cars go together ...

"War Vacuum" .... sometimes the curve is made with three cars side by side ....

Wow !!!!!

If you use car performance team dependent in GPxPatch then "Novice" level will also affect your car. This will be fixed in the next GPxPatch version.
